It’s so easy to get caught up. To want to please everyone–your coworkers, friends, family–that you lose yourself. I was so concerned with other people’s happiness that I forgot all about mine. I wasn’t faking the funk of a perfect life, but I brushed things off that bothered me, in order to seem happier. I went out of my way to please people, with the fear that if I didn’t, they would be disappointed. I would even lie to my family every time they asked me if things were alright. I lived and did things for others. Instead of living and doing things for me.
And when someone walked out of my life without reason, I felt like I was crashing. But like a ton of bricks, the truth finally hit me. That’s when I looked in the mirror and didn’t know who Jess was anymore. It was a fear in me that I haven’t felt before, a fear to not be loved or accepted.
I had to start, with loving and accepting myself first.
As hard as it is for me to write this.. I share this, so my readers can embrace who they are. So you will not rely on the world to make you happy. And so that you can learn to be your own source of happiness. It is the greatest feeling to be comfortable with who you are… and have a sense of security in your own skin.
Release fear, self-doubt, disappointment, sadness.
Embrace and do… what makes you.. happy.
Take risks. Don’t be scared.
It’s okay to not have your shit together. There will be times when nothing goes your way and you’ll swear the universe is conspiring against you. You have that battle within, that you have to face alone. Because only you have the power to better yourself.
When that time comes you’ll be the one having to make the tough decisions. It is liberating to take charge of your own life (the beauty of being an adult). You know yourself better than anyone, so trust yourself to make the right decisions. If people walk out your life then maybe that’s whats meant to be. You can’t be scared of consequences, struggles, sacrifices…or even scared to make a mistake–they’re all essential to learning.
And essential to growth. So move forward and grow. Growth is wonderful.
You’re You, and that’s what makes You awesome. And remember to love yourself, love others… be confident, stay humble… know your worth, show your worth.
I may not be where I want to be yet, but I must be patient with myself and be great every step of the way. Success is not going to happen overnight, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate life’s little milestones.. =)
This is a probably the most personal blogpost I have posted on here. I hope I can continue to enlighten you on my journey.
Love & Light,
